What a knock out day!

Beautiful weather, not too hot, not too cool, the gardens were in top form.

Gabriola Home & Garden Tour is a fundraiser for our People for a Healthy Community, we call PHC on Gabriola.

Visitors from Vancouver, as well as bus load of garden enthusiasts from somewhere (Vancouver Island, I think) arrived and mingled with the locals, for a delightful show of gardens at their best.

But back to PHC. Tickets were $20 and well worth it. Proceeds provide for PHC programs including the Food Depot, Soup Social, Violence Prevention Program, Kids in the Garden Program, Seniors Gardens "Dragon Garden", citizen advocacy, employment consulting, and Christmas Bureau.

And here's the best of all. My sister, Dianne, from the big smoke, crafted our unique garden hats which brought in 'wows!' at every garden we walked.

To you gardeners, we doft our hats, a job well done, and with the love inherent in giving back, to our community Gabriola Island.

Here's your challenge for 2010's Gabriola Home & Garden Tour: Wear your hat proudly, fuss it up, and have fun flamboyantly. For after all, you can, in the garden!
