Egypt is an ancient land filled with wonder and mystery; and there’s nothing quite like the luxury of experiencing it first hand and discovering the beauty it’s so well known for. This is why I’ve decided to go to Egypt this year and explore the grandeur of its surrounds. While there are a few things to take into consideration, like the current uproar in Cairo, I could cruise right through the River Nile from Luxor to Esna, where the Valley of Kings, a vast City of the Dead, lies. Nearby is the Valley of the Queens that holds the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only female pharaoh of Egypt. Buried with all their secrets, the tombs are a rumoured spectacle. From Esna, I can explore places like Edfu, Kom Ombo, and Aswan where beautiful Greek architecture takes the stage as I immerse myself in the history of Egypt. I look forward to the sun and sand by the Red Sea at Sharm El Sheikh, where a fresh tall glass of cold fruit drinks can accompany my much needed vacation. Perhaps a ride through the dunes on a camel through the morning can set the tone for a romantic sunrise. Now I’m excited, and I can’t wait to experience the beauty of Egypt. Oh! Guess What? I’m going to Morocco instead, with Egypt next year when their new ‘world’ unfolds as it should. Here I am on Gabriola Island in expectation! It’s taken me a very long time to reacquaint with Africa again. I just can’t wait!
