Our population of about 5,000 frequents the Village where grocery, drug store, artwork, restaurants, coffee shops, dress shop, library, are only a few of the businesses you’ll find. Home based businesses of all kinds, doctors, dentist, medical practitioners, lawyers, accountants, architects, builders, electricians, trades, and on and on live and work here on Gabriola. We are 20 minutes by the MV Quinsam from Nanaimo Harbour. Situated in the Gulf Islands, many refer this beautiful Mediterranean style of climate to the paradise they’ve been looking for. Gabriola is in the southern Gulf Islands, very conveniently across the water from the city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island.

Thanksgiving weekend, our artisans open their studios for the Studio Tour recognized as one of the best in Canada. Celebrations of music, dance, and farmer’s markets occur throughout the year. Be at peace with yourself, or come out and fill yourself to the brim with what Gabriola is all about. When I say “Gabriola will surprise you”; I mean this by my own personal example. In July of a year many years ago, I rode the ferry across from Nanaimo. I came for the visit and stayed.
