Where to eat on Gabriola. Robert’s Family Restaurant.
In the hub of activity on Gabriola, a quick, 1 minute walk from our Village. Across the street from the Co-op gas bar and convenience store, and propane. Two liquor stores are in direct proximity, one being open until 8pm every night. Raven Foods for our pets, is just down the road a bit, next door to the accountant, Kevin Beausoleil. Across the street from Wine Art – make your own, run by Kim Lister and Rick Samas, newcomers to Gabriola – fitting right in.
Robert’s Place. Family. Serving up good food and cheerfully. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and the in-betweens, I am a frequent flyer. If you become one so loyal, ask for their loyalty card and rack up the savings. Robert’s honours the culinary customs of India, China, Vegan, and Valentine’s Day, Family Day, Easter, Sunday brunches, Christmas and special events throughout the year.
Where does he get all his acumen for also being in the catering business, too? I’ve been the delighted recipient of picnics at Page’s Resort and Marina, full-on catered dinners at the Gabriola Golf Club, a family Christmas dinner catered at my house, all delicious, hot, and on time. It’s a mystery to me how he keeps the hot – hot, and the ice cold ice cream – cold. But, he does!
And, then there’s the desert bar. Pies, cakes, slices, cookies and muffins. This one’s my fav. Lemon blueberry stacked-high, cake minus 2 slices.
